The Yezidis in Iraq have a chance to get some relief from the tortures they have received at the hands of the Kurdish Moslems if they can get adequate representation in the Iraqi Congress. The next elections are in January, but as of right now the Yezidis are only being offered one representative when they should get 6. The ratio for all other people in Iraq is one representative for every 100,000 people. There are 600,000 Yezidis in Iraq.

Dear Mr. President,
I am writing to you in regards to the Yezidi people of northern Iraq. They need your immediate assistance. Iraqi Congress elections are coming up again in 2010 in Iraq and the Yezidis are trying to get their rightful share of seats so they can be fairly represented. Right now the Iraqi government is only offering them one seat, even though they should get 6. There are 650,000 Yezidis, and the ratio among the other Iraqi people, including the Kurds and Moslems, has been one seat per 100,000 people. The Yezidis have undergone torture and murder from neighboring Moslem Kurds for many years and the abuses will continue unless they can get fair representation in Congress. I am requesting that you help these people receive their fair share of representatives. The Yezidis currently do not receive the international food and water intended for them, and most are scared to even leave their homes. Since the founding of Islam millions have been murdered and millions more will be slaughtered unless they can get your help. In 2007 suicide bombers killed 500 of them, and the killing continues every day. Please help them!

The truth is that most of the information available on the internet concerning the Yezidi (Ezidi,Yazidi) people is misleading, distorted, or pure fiction.
It is important to understand this from the outset, and to look at the Yezidi people and their ancient tradition with new eyes.
